Lapping Days

This event is designed for a driver to improve and test their car handling skills at speeds that may be slightly higher than Autoslalom speeds.  457367_10150848861307673_1996020296_o

Entrants will be divided into six groups of four cars of relatively matched cars/entrant driving skills. Each run group will cycle through work assignment, staged run group and run group on the track. Each run group will get a minimum of three track sessions.  Each car in a run group will be release by a course marshal with a safe distance between them.  There will be no passing allowed and there will be no timing of the cars on track.

RULES: This event is held under the applicable rules outlined in the 2013 CACC Lapping Regulations, CACC Time Attack Regulations and, CACC General Competition Regulations (GCR).  Copies are available online at http://www.caccautosport.org/

ENTRY FEE: $65.00 with a maximum of 24 individuals entered.

ENTRANT ELIGIBILITY: All entrants must possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 19 years of age on the day of the event.  (BC Driver’s license classes 1 through 5 or equivalent).  All entrants must also hold a valid VMSC membership on the day of the event. Drivers must have some experience which is defined at a minimum as having run 3 VMSC slaloms or showing proof of having taken a HPDE course.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify as eligible to participate in a Lapping event, each vehicle must comply with the following minimum requirements:
I) It must have four road wheels, not in a line, a minimum of two of which must be driven.
II) It must have a braking system that works on all four wheels simultaneously.
III) It must have a structure and bodywork that surrounds and protects the driver, at least to his waist level when seated in his normal driving position.
IV) It must have a minimum wheelbase of 152 cm (60 in), a minimum front and rear track of 107 cm (42 in), and a minimum wheel diameter of 25.4 cm (10 in).

Additional requirements for open vehicles; rollover protection
The roll over protection shall not be the factory hoops.  The top of the roll bar shall not be below the top of the driver’s helmet when the driver is in the normal driving position, and shall not be more than six (6) inches behind the driver. It is strongly suggested that the roll bar be at least three (3) inches above the drivers’ helmet. In the case of two drivers, both drivers must be the roll bar height requirement, however, only one driver must be within six inches of the roll bar. In a closed car with a roll bar/cage, it must be as close as possible to the interior top of the car.

SPEED LIMITS: The off-course speed limit is 15 km/h.  This applies to all pit, grid and staging areas, as well as any site access roads. Local speed limits are also in effect in and around Western Speedway.  Anyone caught violating these speed limits is subject to immediate disqualification and will be asked to leave the site.

CHILDREN AND PETS: The pre-grid and course areas are off-limits to children 15 years and younger and, animals. Pets must be adequately leashed and under control at all times and limited to the grand stand area.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Helmets are required for all entrants and passengers.  Refer to section 3.4(C) of the 2013 CACC Solo rulebook for acceptable helmet standards. The driver and any passenger must have long sleeved shirts and long pants.

RESPECT THE SITE and THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Please do not litter.  Keep your pit area safe.  Any and all fluids removed from a vehicle must be taken with you at the end of the event day.  Respect the local residents. We are guests at this site and must act accordingly.  No speeding, burnouts or loud stereos will be tolerated at any time.  You will be asked to leave if you do not behave appropriately.

PASSENGERS: Passengers are permitted as long as they must meet the criteria to be an entrant and wear a suitable helmet.  Only one passenger per car and this person must be seated in the front passenger seat.

NOISE LEVELS: All vehicles must be muffled with a maximum allowable sound level of 95dB.  Entrants exceeding this limit will be given one warning, and will be permitted to make modifications to reduce sound.  Entrants will be asked to leave if they cannot comply with this sound limit.  Final judgment of the acceptability of sound levels, regardless of the measured sound level, rests with the event organizer.

MULTIPLE DRIVER CARS: Multiple entrants may drive the same vehicle during lapping with a maximum of two drivers per car entered and will be placed in a different run group.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:All entrants, spectators and workers must sign the insurance waiver located at the registration desk prior to entering the track.  Minors (under 19) must have a parent/guardian sign the standard release form. Said parent/guardian must be present to sign the release form
